With the MWC and the 4YFN just around the corner, we saw a great opportunity to bring back the in-person Spark Meetups and explain the Qbeast technology to the public! So we prepared a talk for Wednesday, 23rd of February.

Abstract:

The Big Data ecosystem moves towards a Data Lakehouse architecture. The best of Data Lake and Data Warehouses is combined to offer a needed metadata management layer to the storage. At Qbeast, we are pushing forward to build data solutions for everyone, and recently we launched the Qbeast Format: an Open Source extension for Data Lakehouse with support for multi-dimensional indexing and sampling.

It’s based on Delta Lake and it’s available for Apache Spark, so if you are an enthusiast and want to play around with lakehouse architecture, you are welcome to give it a try before we explain the insights https://github.com/Qbeast-io/qbeast-spark .

In the talk we are going to explain our experience building the technology: what are the advantages of a Data Lakehouse, what are the technical challenges that we faced on the development, and what are the benefits that Qbeast can bring to the Big Data and the open source ecosystem.
