From Barcelona Supercomputing Center we’re looking for a Spin-off Portfolio Manager (Deep Tech).
As a Spin-off Portfolio Manager, he/she will be a key player in the BSC I&BD team, focusing on the growth and success of deep tech spin-off companies. This role involves supporting the incubation and acceleration of a diverse portfolio of companies across multiple technology domains, including HPC, AI, life sciences, earth sciences and engineering, and beyond.
The mission of the I&BD Unit is to translate cutting-edge research into groundbreaking products, services, and processes that drive societal and economic impact. His/her role will be to nurture and scale deep tech companies, turning scientific discoveries into market-ready solutions.
- Develop and execute strategies to maximize the growth and profitability of each spin-off company:
- Incubation & Acceleration: Lead the incubation and acceleration process for deep tech spin-offs, providing guidance on business strategy, product development, and go-to-market planning. Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential new opportunities for spin-off companies.
- Mentorship & Advisory: Mentor and advise founders and teams on navigating the unique challenges of deep tech entrepreneurship, including technology validation, regulatory pathways, and funding strategies
- Investment Readiness: Prepare companies for successful fundraising by refining business models, pitches, and financial plans, ensuring alignment with investor expectations.
- Portfolio Management: Monitor and report the performance of the portfolio, tracking key metrics, identifying risks and opportunities, and providing strategic interventions when necessary.
- Ecosystem Building: Foster collaboration between portfolio companies and external partners, including universities, corporate R&D, and innovation hubs, to accelerate commercialization efforts.
- Pipeline Development: Collaborate with research and development teams to identify promising technologies with commercial potential, ensuring a continuous pipeline of new spin-offs.
