Barcelona, 13 May 2024 – Tech Up Nights, an initiative created by Tech Barcelona and Ocado Technology, celebrates its second anniversary this month, consolidating, after eleven editions, as a benchmark event in the city’s technology ecosystem.

Since its inception two years ago, Tech Up Nights has become an important meeting point for IT profiles in the city: from technologists and data scientists, to product and user experience managers, both from leading technology companies and growing startups. These events play a key role in fostering innovation within the growing technology and science ecosystem in Barcelona.

According to the Tech Hubs Overview 2024 report, the Catalan tech hub ecosystem continues to experience strong growth, with Barcelona and the metropolitan area as major poles of attraction for talent and R&D in southern Europe. Catalonia remains a benchmark location for hosting international tech hubs, with a total of 140 hubs in the territory by 2023. ‘Tech Up Nights are an exceptional example of events that bring together the technological and scientific community to promote collaboration and the exchange of ideas,’ says Guillem Vila Palau, Director of Technology Centres at Ocado Technology. Miquel Martí, CEO of Tech Barcelona, comments that ‘on their second anniversary, we are proud to celebrate the positive impact they have had on technology and digital talent in Barcelona’.

To date, the 11 Tech Up Nights held at Pier01 have featured speakers from major multinationals such as Nestlé, HP, IBM, Adevinta, Damm, MediaMarkt, and more, who have presented innovative projects and shared their experience in the technological and digital fields. The initiative will celebrate its second anniversary during the 12th edition, on 15 May, and will feature speakers from i2Cat and Ocado Technology who will talk about real-time holoportation platforms and strategies to minimise cloud costs, respectively.
